Fall 2011 Trends: Shoe Overview

So yesterday we talked about fashion evolving and the same can be said for shoes...except shoes evolve at a much slower pace.

So a lot of what we see this year is similar to year's past with a few notable exceptions: the slipper, the penny loafer pump and the wedge bootie.

The slipper is an updated flat that is also referred to affectionately as the "smoking flat."  The modern shape is best in funky patterns and impact colors.

Take your penny loafers from the days of yore and add a 3" to 4" heel.  Both of these shoes are very influenced by menswear fashion - another hot Fall trend.

Last, booties from year's past are still hot except the updated version has a wedge heel.  Although it seems like not a good match with a dress, this is the intention.
