Building Your Basics -- Denim and T-shirt

An easy place to start for a chic and cheap wardrobe is identify 2 quality basics that you can revolve all your other pieces around.

For me, 2 pieces that I get the most bang for my buck are a pair of straight leg jeans and a white t-shirt.  Earth shattering?  No.  But when paired with your more exciting "pop" items, you will see you can build an entire wardrobe around 2 easy basics.

For example, take your favorite pair of jeans.  Mine...the real straight fit from the Gap...are slimming, versatile and give you the skinny look without being too tight.  Pair this with  a basic white tee and your possibilities are endless.  Hint:  medium wash is a great transition fabric from warm to cold weather.                                       Real straight jeans (medium wash) $59.50 at Gap.

With this combination, you can mix and match a great print scarf, statement jewelry, a cardigan, belt or blazer.  Not to mention but just making a simple footwear change, you can give your basics a totally different look.                            Jersey V-neck T $15.00 at Gap
Try these:
Clockwise:  Scarf, $14.97 at piperlime.com, Necklace $5.80 at Forever 21, Blazer $98.00 at express.com

Both your jeans and white tees are worth spending a little extra on because they are the backdrop that will let your more interesting pieces shine.
